PriestmanGoode was commissioned by Airbus to define and visualise a sustainable future travel experience. Experts from our CX and Visualisation teams collaborated with Airbus to develop the strategy and bring the vision to life.

Challenge

PriestmanGoode’s long standing partnership with Airbus as strategic design and innovation partners spans over two decades. With aviation currently accounting for approximately 2.5% of man-made emissions¹, Airbus recognises the pressing need to take a leading role in a more sustainable future within aviation, sustainability concerns within the industry while ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from aviation advancements, something that aligns closely with PriestmanGoode’s value of sustainability and and Route to Zero, our detailed process that leads towards most appropriate choices across the design process.

In pursuit of this goal, Airbus sought the expertise of PriestmanGoode to collaborate on their Airspace Cabin Vision 2035+. This visionary initiative aims to completely reimagine the future travel experience at the airport, during boarding and onboard the aircraft, placing a strong emphasis on sustainability without compromising on the superior levels of comfort that passengers have come to expect.

Solution

By leveraging our extensive experience in design and innovation, PriestmanGoode’s strategy team collaborated closely with Airbus to develop innovative solutions that address key environmental challenges while enhancing the overall passenger experience. Through this partnership, Airbus and PriestmanGoode are working towards shaping a more sustainable and passenger-centric future for aviation, ensuring that future generations can continue to benefit from air travel while minimising its environmental impact.

PriestmanGoode’s leading visualisation team, PG.VIS, utilised their expertise to bring their vision to life through a multimedia video. The video ingeniously layers narratives around the Airbus’s three pillars to achieve their ambition which are,  transparency, decarbonisation and circularity, crafting a captivating portrayal of a new airport, boarding and inflight experience.

A hybrid shoot approach was employed for filming. This involved the use of both green screen technology and virtual production techniques. By employing green screens, they were able to isolate and capture the featured characters within the airport setting, while virtual production techniques enhanced the immersive quality of the scenes depicted in the video. This combination allowed for a seamless integration of live-action elements with computer-generated imagery, resulting in a visually stunning and engaging representation of PriestmanGoode’s innovative airport concept.
