PriestmanGoode has collaborated with Gen Phoenix to showcase the circular material innovator’s latest product, at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) 2025. Visitors at AIX will see an aircraft seat dressed in Essence Nappa, a new take on premium recycled material developed by Gen Phoenix to advance both luxury and sustainability in next-generation aircraft interiors.

Working with both Gen Phoenix – formerly ELeather – and aircraft seating manufacturer Geven, PriestmanGoode’s Colour, Material, and Finish (CMF) team has designed a unique application of Essence Nappa for the Comoda Business Class seat, demonstrating how material innovation can enhance aesthetics and the passenger experience, as well as contributing to circularity.

Building from advancements Gen Phoenix has made in the leather goods space with leading luxury brands, Essence Nappa has a luxurious, leather-like finish and feel. The design features rich Oxblood and Coral tones, chosen to align with Gen Phoenix’s branding and create a refined yet contemporary aesthetic. This showcase seat provides an opportunity to experiment with intricate detailing, including the incorporation of continuous and satin stitching—techniques rarely used in aviation due to strict durability requirements. The stitching pattern is inspired by the Gen Phoenix logo.

“Beyond aesthetics, this collaboration is a testament to PriestmanGoode’s expertise in translating 2D brand elements into immersive, three-dimensional experiences. By integrating Essence Nappa into an ergonomically designed seat, the project demonstrates the role of sustainable material innovation in shaping the future of aircraft interiors—where circularity meets passenger comfort.” commented Associate Director Maria Kafel-Bentkowska

Partnering with a prestigious aviation interiors designer like PriestmanGoode has allowed us to craft a sophisticated design that seamlessly achieves a sense of luxury with no compromise on sustainability,” said Lisa Conway, Chief Revenue Officer for Gen Phoenix. “Circularity is embedded from the outset as Essence Nappa is both made of waste leather and can be returned to us to become a seat cover again. Seats are a part of the in-flight experience that passengers engage with physically, and airlines can share the story of the materials used with passengers to take credit today for the steps they’re taking to manage the natural resources tied to cabin interiors.”

Visitors at AIX 2025 will find the seat demonstrator at the Gen Phoenix Stand, Hall B6, Stand 6C10.
